Why throw away if you can give to the poorest people? This is the question that Chantale Geisen, the president of Hëllefen mat Herz asbl, has been asking herself for years.

The idea therefore came to her to create the non-profit organization Hëllefen mat Herz, which collects clothes, furniture and other objects in order to give them back to people in need.

For more than 9 years now, the Stëmm vun der Strooss can count on their support. Every week, the clothes collected pass through the hands of Chantale’s mother, Erna Geisen. Alone, she has already sorted out tons of clothes, sometimes with holes and stains.

On Friday 8 January, the Stëmm vun der Strooss team represented by Christiane Weber, Michel Conrardy and the director, Alexandra Oxacelay, met the person in charge of Hëllefen mat Herz in her house in Sanem. The meticulously packed boxes filled an entire van.

As Alexandra Oxacelay said: “Even if some donors take us for the country’s garbage, giving us clothes in bad condition, sometimes even with the smell of urine or other excrement, this is part of the collection. So I am taking this opportunity to appeal in the hope that in the future we will only receive washed and undamaged clothes. “In addition, the shelves of the Kleederstuff in Esch-sur-Alzette, located at 32 Grand Rue and Hollerich at 7, rue de la Fonderie, empty quickly during the winter months, so this donation is very well-timed.
