Kolping helps Stëmm employ a chef for another 6 months

Following substantial funding from non-profit Laache fir ze heelen, it’s Kolping Luxembourg’s turn to take over. Non-profit Kolping Luxembourg has provided Stemm vun der Strooss with a generous sum of 16.335,70 € so that they can continue to fund the salary of a part-time chef for six months at their social restaurant in Hollerich.
Marie France Brauch, Présidente of Kolping Luxembourg, responded very quickly to Alexandra Oxacelay’s call for help and initiated this collaboration.
Founded in 1864, Kolping Luxembourg is part of the worldwide network Kolping International, which has more than 400,000 members in more than 60 countries. Members actively participate in a socially just transformation of society.
“It is not the first time that Kolping offers their support to Stëmm: we already received financial support from them to fund kitchens in two apartments for our Immo Stëmm project,” says director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, Alexandra Oxacelay.
Stëmm decided to use the money to pay the salary of the chief who had a part time job, and who now has a full time job in order to meet the demands of the increasing numbers of customers to their social restaurant in recent months. According to the latest figures, the number of meals served at the organisation’s premises in Hollerich has increased by 68% over the last two years, as the number of people who visit it has doubled. The non-profit is grateful for all the support it can get.
