Press release: Employees and beneficiaries of the Stëmm vun der Strooss celebrate Halloween

On Friday 29 October 2021, the staff of the Stëmm vun der Strooss in Hollerich dressed up to create a festive atmosphere in the social restaurant at 7 rue de la Fonderie in Hollerich. The entire room was decorated down to the smallest detail to bring this Anglo-Saxon folklore tradition closer to the beneficiaries of the association.

A special meal was offered that day at the social restaurant, which served an average of 220 menus per day in October 2021, an increase of 59% compared to July, when 138 meals were served over the counter. These figures show how precariousness is present in Luxembourg, and theme days like this one allow people in need to forget their everyday worries for an afternoon.

This time on the menu: traditional pumpkin soup, followed by tandoori chicken with green noodles and peppers, and finally muffins in the shape of skulls.

Every year, POST Luxembourg demonstrates its social commitment by offering its employees the opportunity to pass on their value vouchers given by the company at the end of the year to a specific social organisation. Thus, at the end of 2020, a total of vouchers of more than 7,000 euros were collected at POST and donated to the Stëmm vun der Strooss. This generous sum was distributed to the different Stëmm sites and workshops to organise theme days like “Halloween” where meals are given out for free.

“There was a great atmosphere with our vampiric and spooky costumes,” says Amandine Diederich, graduate pedagogue at the Stëmm: “Events like this allow us to create a closer connection with people in need. It’s nice to see them smile, because their lives are not always easy”.

More projects are planned for the coming months.

Stëmm is always open to cooperation and partnerships with socially responsible companies.
