Press release: Stëmm vun der Strooss and OUNI, a collaboration for a more sustainable future
On 15 February 2022, two actors sharing the same goals in the field of sustainability and the fight against food waste signed a partnership.
The idea for a cooperation came from the members of OUNI, the first packaging-free organic grocery shop in Luxembourg. In search of new partners and to expand the activities in both OUNI stores – in Luxembourg City and in Dudelange – they turned to the director of the Stëmm vun der Strooss, Alexandra Oxacelay. Alongside her kitchen manager Thilo Umbach, a meeting was held at the OUNI branch, 55, rue Glesener, with Sonja Ruud, Sam Wiscourt, Caroline Lam and Julien Gannard to discuss about the importance of a more sustainable way of thinking about food.
The cooperation foresees that members of the cooperative will have the opportunity to make a donation to the Stëmm vun der Strooss. In return, the non-profit association will use these donations to buy food at OUNI. Thanks to this collaboration, the members of the cooperative are feeding three birds with one scone, since they are helping two actors at the same time, while contributing to the protection of the environment. As for the Stëmm, it will guarantee balanced and healthy meals in its social restaurant at 7, rue de la Fonderie in Hollerich. If this first phase is successful, the collaboration will be extended to the kitchens in Esch-sur-Alzette and Schoenfels
The Stëmm vun der Strooss is proud to work with a local partner, as Alexandra Oxacelay points out: “In 2018, our editorial team reported on the OUNI cooperative. I am delighted to see how the movement has developed over the past 5 years. I am convinced that this new partnership will benefit us both, as we share the same vision.”
The Stëmm vun der Strooss is known for an environmentally conscious thinking in the food sector since many years and will work with OUNI to promote this even more.
