Press release : The Rotary Club of Bascharage-Kordall contributes to the financing of the new social restaurant of the Stëmm

While the Rotary Club of Bascharage-Kordall has already supported the Stëmm on several occasions, notably in 2021 to help finance the new vocational rehabilitation workshop in Sanem, the non-profit association is pleased to be able to count on the Rotarians once again.

On the initiative of Roland Schreiner, President of the Rotary Club of Bascharage-Kordall 2022-23, the Stëmm vun der Strooss was awarded a donation of €2,500. He emphasised: “Supporting the disadvantaged in our society is a concern that is particularly close to my heart and we always ask ourselves to what extent we can make our contribution”.

The official donations ceremony took place on Wednesday 18 January 2023 at the Threeland Hotel in Pétange, in the presence of members of the Rotary Club of Bascharage-Kordall and the director of the Stëmm vun der Strooss, Alexandra Oxacelay. Over a pleasant lunch, she explained to the Rotarians in detail for which important project their donation will be used.

The financial support will be invested for part of the renovation of the new social restaurant at 47 Rue Prince Henri in Ettelbruck. The facility, which will welcome needy people from the north of the country, is scheduled to open at the end of January.

Alexandra Oxacelay explained that the Stëmm vun der Strooss has already been present in Ettelbruck since March last year, serving meals in a car park opposite the train station. The move to the new premises will facilitate the work of the educators while providing more comfort to those in need.

As mentioned earlier, this is not the first time that the Stëmm vun der Strooss has been able to count on the generous support of Rotarians. Alexandra Oxacelay warmly thanked the guests and invited them to visit the new social restaurant in Ettelbruck once it is finally opened to the beneficiaries.
