Stëmm vun der Strooss and Lycée Mathias Adam – A good deed to end the school year
Pupils of a “Deuxième” class of the Lycée Mathias Adam, located in Pétange, were asked to carry out a project to end their school year. They decided to use this opportunity to help people in need. This group of motivated students set up an action to help homeless people in Luxembourg. This project, which they named “2 The Rescue”, consisted in collecting clothes for the association Stëmm vun der Strooss. Indeed, this association helps disadvantaged people in many ways. One of them is to collect clothes in good condition, sort and wash them and then redistribute them for free to people in need.
To carry out their project, the LMA students created a poster with information about their idea and a list of the things the homeless people need most. For one week, a large trolley was placed in one of the school buildings so that all students and staff members could participate in the project.
Following this collection, the students contacted the Stëmm vun der Strooss to organise the transport of the clothes to the Kleederstuff in Hollerich. In total, five large bags were collected and donated to the association. Thanks to this voluntary and generous action, many people in need will be able to benefit from clean clothes in good condition.
