The charity association (ALYGRE) of the Maacher Lycée supports the Stëmm vun der Strooss
The Charity association (ALYGRE) of the Maacher Lycée contributes to the new projects of the Stëmm vun der Strooss. Represented by Mr Yves Mentgen, deputy headmaster of the MLG, and Mrs Chantal Eicher, teacher and president of the ALYGRE, the association handed over a cheque over €4,080 to Bob Ritz, communication officer of the Stëmm vun der Strooss, on Monday 17th May 2021. A group of students attended the donation ceremony and received a presentation on the activities of the Stëmm.
This generous donation was made possible thanks to the proceeds from a Christmas market organised at the school on 16th December 2019. It should be noted that the whole school, and therefore all the classes and their teachers, participated in the event and collected this huge amount of money. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-related sanitary measures, it had been impossible so far to agree on an earlier date for the said ceremony.
The money will be used to finance a new building in the Um Woeller industrial estate in Sanem. As Bob Ritz explains: ‘The new building will make it possible to employ 40 additional people who are in a professional reintegration system and live on income for social inclusion. They will work in jobs such as cooking, transport, logistics, cleaning, ironing, sewing and service.”
Instead of 100 tons of food currently recovered, processed and redistributed thanks to Stëmm’s partnership with Auchan hypermarket, the amount will increase to 500 tons a year in future.
The Stëmm vun der Strooss would like to thank the Maacher Lycée for its generosity, because it is only thanks to such donations that new projects can be created to provide even more support to those in need.
