Valentine’s Day for everyone thanks to the Majany Foundation
350 red and white roses is the number of flowers that Laurent Meiers from Fondation Majany had delivered not only to the two social restaurants of Stëmm vun der Strooss, located in the city centre at 32, Grand Rue and in Hollerich at 7, rue de la Fonderie but also to Schweesdreps, the professional reintegration workshop which employs 30 people who are far from the job market.
Since this is the second year in a row that this initiative has taken place, Claude Consdorf, manager of the Esch-sur-Alzette site explains: “We are happy to have had the opportunity to repeat this successful event, launched last year by our colleagues in Hollerich. Giving a flower, a simple gesture? Celebrating Valentine’s Day isn’t a given for everyone. In a rich country like Luxembourg, this represents a considerable budget for people who, on the 15th of the month, find it difficult to make ends meet and are therefore forced to have lunch in one of the social restaurants of the Stëmm vun der Strooss,” adds Marc Balthazar, head of the Schweessdreps. For Alexandra Oxacelay, director of the association, to put a smile on the lips of a person in need is worth all the gold in the world.
