Excursion au Parc Walibi offerte par le Rotary Club Dudelange à la Stëmm vun der Strooss

Le Rotary Club Dudelange (RCD) vient de remettre un chèque de 5 000 € à l’association sans but lucratif Stëmm vun der Strooss. La remise du chèque s’est déroulée à la Roeser Stuff, le siège social du RCD.

« La devise primaire du club est « Servir d’abord » », explique Robert Frank, Président du RCD. Il poursuit : « Le Rotary est connu pour ses engagements sociaux et pour le soutien qu’il apporte aux personnes défavorisées. Tout au long de l’année, nous organisons divers événements comme un marché de Noël ou encore notre Journée Printanière en vue de collecter de l’argent. Ensuite, nous décidons à qui nous souhaitons dédier ces fonds. Notre choix est très sélectif. Nous ne nous contentons pas simplement de donner de l’argent à une association, mais nous choisissons un projet bien spécifique que nous décidons de financer. »

Cette année, le Rotary Club Dudelange (RCD) a choisi de financer l’excursion d’été organisée par la Stëmm vun der Strooss. Les 5 000 € permettront à l’asbl d’offrir une excursion au Parc Walibi en Belgique à 98 personnes dans le besoin.

« Ce genre d’excursion est très important pour les personnes défavorisées que nous accueillons chaque jour dans notre restaurant social de Hollerich, car elle contribue à remonter le morale : Partir quelque part n’est pas à la portée de toutes les bourses. En plus, cela permet de se détendre, d’oublier ses problèmes l’espace d’une journée. On ne peut que s’amuser dans un parc d’attractions. Pour notre public, cela représente un énorme avantage. » souligne Alexandra Oxacelay, chargée de direction de la Stëmm vun der Strooss. Cette excursion est prévue le 13 août.

Le Rotary Club de Dudelange est un des quatorze Rotary Clubs qui existent au Luxembourg. Il compte à son effectif 42 membres. Dans une tradition de clubs plutôt masculins, le Rotary de Dudelange est un des clubs qui compte le plus grand nombre de femmes (42%). Créé en 2005 il se réunit une fois par semaine.

Le premier Rotary Club a vu le jour à Chicago en 1905. A ce jour, 1.2 milliards de personnes, des rotariens, sont membres de 34 282 Rotary Clubs. Le but de cette organisation active et sur plan national et sur plan international consiste à réunir des dirigeants d’entreprise et des professionnels de tout bord afin de fournir des services humanitaires et d’œuvrer pour la paix dans le monde. Dudelange Rotary Club donates excursion to Walibi amusement park to people in need

The Dudelange Rotary Club (DRC) presented a cheque for € 5 000 to Stëmm vun der Strooss on Thursday 16 July at the Roeser Stuff, the headquarters of the club.

« The primary Rotary Club motto is ‘Service Above Self’, » states Robert Frank, President of the DRC. « Our club is known for its social engagements and for offering support to the disadvantaged. »

« We organize events and activities – such as the Christmas market and the Spring Day among others – throughout the year to raise money. Afterwards we decide which humanitarian cause to support with the funding that we have managed to collect, » continued Mr. Frank. « We do not just give all of the money to a charity, but we look for specific projects to fund. »

The Dudelange Rotary Club chose to offer a donation of € 5 000 to fund this year’s summer outing for the clients of Stëmm vun der Strooss (SVDS), predominantly consisting of the homeless and other people in need. Founded in 1996, Stëmm vun der Strooss is a local charity that provides a wide range of services and support. The funds from the Rotary Club will enable Stëmm to offer a trip to Parc Walibi in Belgium for 98 people in August.

« This kind of excursion is very important for disadvantaged people because it helps increase morale and provides people with the opportunity to relax and enjoy a moment together in a very different setting! There is only fun to be had in an amusement park and for us to be able to offer such a trip over the summer is fantastic, » says Alexandra Oxacelay, director of Stëmm vun der Strooss.

The Dudelange Rotary Club is one of fourteen Rotary Clubs in Luxembourg and has 42 members. The DRC is one of the clubs with the largest number of female members (42%) in a tradition of clubs where males tend to dominate. This particular club exists since 2005 and members meet once a week.
