Rental agreement between Fraternité Verbum Spei and Stëmm vun der Strooss in Esch-sur-Alzette

A rental agreement for the upcoming two years with tacit renewal unless 3 months’ notice is given, has been signed on 15 March 2021 between the Father Wandrille from the Fraternité Verbum Spei and the Stëmm vun der Strooss. The object in question is located at 21, rue de l’Église in Esch-sur-Alzette.

This hall serves from now on as a social restaurant and replaces the one which was situated at 32, Grand Rue in Esch-sur-Alzette. The social restaurant is open from 11.45 to 14.30 from Monday to Friday. Laundry services as well as changing rooms and showers are nevertheless maintained at 32, Grand Rue. These services are accessible from Monday to Friday between 11.45 am and 4.30 pm.

Opening a new facility proved more than necessary in recent months in order to serve food in a heated room. The old place was too small, especially in times of the current sanitary crisis, and therefore no longer adapted to meet the demands from the Stëmm vun der Strooss. Thanks to this relocation, the social restaurant can now receive 20 people at once while respecting the sanitary measures in force.

The former hall is nevertheless still in use like it’s explained by Francesco Settanni, person in charge of the facilities from the Stëmm vun der Strooss in Esch-sur-Alzette: “ In the old restaurant, food is prepared every morning and then delivered to the new address by our employees who are in the process of professional reintegration “.

It should also be added that the poverty rate has increased by 20% in Luxembourg due to the sanitary crisis. That is the reason why it is more than necessary to expand institutions that support disadvantaged people. The new location in Esch-sur-Alzette will make it possible to receive even more homeless people and will thus at the same time contribute to peace and quiet in the streets of the city.
